Refusal

There are dreams I've had which will never see the light of day.  Whole sparkling universes of thoughts and ideas, forced by the relentless boots of reason into the dark, small spaces of forgetfulness.

'No' is such a final concept.  Refusal.  Denial.  You cannot.  It is the opposite of acceptance.  Impossible.  Untenantable.  You shall not.

My doomed dreams, spun of wishes and fire - they meet the wall of 'no' in my mind, created by my logical, reasonable society.  They rarely survive the impact.

But the dreaming me, the night me, embraces the negation of 'no'.  Affirmation.  Creativity.  I may.  The dreams I've had, let me keep, I say.  Imagination.  Acceptance.  I will.

Let me break down that wall.  Let me parade them naked down the street at midday.  Let me refuse logic, let me deny 'no'; let my firey dreams burn out the day.
